Something For Kate will begin work on a new album in the coming months.

The Aussie band will reunite and record the much anticipated follow up to their 2007 album ‘The Murmur Years’ in December.

“Now that we’re back we intend to be back for a few months and get the record done and out and go out on tour,” the band’s frontman Paul Dempsey told TripleJ radio.

“We’re all itching to be Something For Kate again. I’ve been having fun being solo guy but now we’ve got the itch.”

Dempsey said he has already begun writing songs for the band’s new album, with its release expected mid-way through next year.

“We’re all looking forward to it. It’s been a couple of years. We want it to be ready sooner rather than later but it will be ready when it’s ready,” he said.

In 2007, the Melbourne-based trio announced they were taking a hiatus from touring and recording.

Two years later, while on break, Dempsey released his debut solo album ‘Everything Is True’.

Since 1997, Something For Kate have released 10 albums.
