BAM! organisers pull the plug

Posted on 26 August 2010 by Kate Kachor

Organisers of Aussie music festival BAM! have been forced to pull the plug on the event because of poor ticket sales.

“It is with great sadness and disappointment that we here at BAM HQ wish to announce that we have not sold enough tickets to run this event. As a result, BAM Festival has been cancelled,” festival organisers said.

Despite a slight increase in ticket numbers following the release of a two for one offer, organisers pulled the plug to ease the financial risk involved in going ahead with the event.

“While profit was not our goal, and our entire team were volunteers, our responsibility in being able to provide payment to our suppliers was paramount to our success,” organisers said.

“While everything else for a great festival is prepared, without ticket sales we are unable to go ahead.
We would like to thank every single person who has spent time and effort supporting and creating BAM! Festival. Your efforts did not go un-noticed, and we are truly grateful for your assistance.”

The cancellation of BAM! comes just days after organisers of Homebake decided to give the festival a break for 2010.

“We’ve decided to go against the grain and as such – after much deliberation (and some procrastination) – we here at Homebake festival HQ have decided to take a break and postpone Homebake Music, Film & Arts Festival for this year only, 2010,” Homebake organisers said.

BAM! was scheduled to be held on 8th to 10th of October in South East Queensland.

The festival was set to feature: The Winnie Coopers, The Barons of Tang, Dallas Frasca, Blame Ringo, The Mercy Beat, Baby Seal Club, Tin Can Radio, Headkase, Bang Bang Boss Kelly, The Good Ship, Chocolate Strings, Free Agent Crew, Dead Riot, The View From Madeleine’s Couch, Flowers for Lily, The City Shake Up, They Are Spies, TroubdleKarmaFlow, Jac Stone, The Belligerents, The Lyrical, Torn Asunder, Recoil, The Fricken Hecks, 1989, Chamberland, The Arachnids, The Orange City Sings, Dirtybird, Jack Flash.
