Bliss n Eso has stormed the local charts with their new studio release taking top spot on debut.

The Sydney outfit’s ‘Running On Air’ record debuted in the number one spot on the Australian national music charts, the ARIA Charts, knocking off US act, Eminem.

Bliss n Eso lead one of the strongest Australian indie album debuts in the last six months, with fellow local artists Washington, Birds of Tokyo, Angus and Julia Stone, and The Temper Trap all sitting well inside the top 20 albums for this week.

Melbourne-based artist Washington, aka Megan Washington and band, also scored an impressive start, taking out third spot on debut with her album, I Believe You Liar.

Perth band Birds of Tokyo also secured an solid foothold in the charts with their self-titled album debuting in second spot, before dropping slightly to now sit in fourth spot.

Folk siblings Angus and Julia Stone’s latest album, Down The Way, has spent the past 21 weeks in the top 10, with the album’s highest placing hitting the top spot and now sitting at number 10.

Melbourne outfit The Temper Trap are also stayers in the charts with their debut album, Conditions.

The band’s record has been in the charts for 37 weeks, with it boosting a nine spot as their highest position.

The album is sitting just outside the top 10 in the number 15 position.
