Birds of Tokyo has signed a new management deal as part of a move to crack the international market.

The Perth band has signed to John Watson Management, the management behind such artists as Silverchair, Missy Higgins, Cold Chisel and Pete Murray.

“This management transition is entirely amicable and will take place gradually over the coming months with a view to helping the band make inroads internationally,” a band statement said.

The band’s previous manager, Ross Macpherson, will continue to act as the band’s concert promoter on their Australian tour this September, the statement said.

“It has been an epic journey working with such an amazing band from their ‘fledgling’ days until this pivotal stage in their career”, Macpherson said.

Commenting on Macpherson’s time with the band, Birds Of Tokyo guitarist Adam Spark said: “We owe a lot of gratitude and love to Rosco, with respect to both past and future.

“We will still enjoy an ongoing friendship, both personally and professionally as we continue down our respective paths.”

Birds of Tokyo released their latest self-titled album late last month.
