New Young Pony Club

New Young Pony Club (NYPC) is set to release their second studio album.

The UK outfit will release, The Optimist, on 19 March.

The self produced, self funded and self released album offers a shift in direction for the band, according to singer Ty Bulmer.

“The last album was about a particular persona,” Bulmer said.

“And it was my sexy, party animal, idealised self. Sometimes I am that person, but in the wake of a 10 year relationship ending I felt it was important to be a bit more honest.

“The last album had an intellectual depth but not an emotional one.”

The Optimist is the follow up to the band’s 2007 Mercury Music Prize nominated ‘Fantastic Playroom’.
