Bertie Blackman
Bertie Blackman will hold her first ever solo art exhibition next month.
The Sydney singer and daughter of Australian artists Charles Blackman & Genevieve de Couvreur, will exhibit her work for one night only as part of a charity event.
Blackman’s work will feature a selection of large scale pen and ink illustrations of her “Nanimals” – somewhere between Alice’s Wonderland and Where Maurice Sendak’s Wild Things Are.
“I like the graphic quality of using pen and ink,” the singer said.
“I also like making “things”, building and shaping things, but drawing in black and white allows me to better interpret my characters as I see them, and for others to see.”
All profits from the sale of these original drawings will be donated to Australian music charity Support Act.
Bertie Blackman’s one night only art show will be held on Thursday 19 November at Mossgreen Gallery.
