Bob Sinclar, where do I begin?

Sinclar’s latest album, Born in 69 is, in my view, a collective of disconnected mess of sound.

Perhaps my confusion with this record comes from the lack of understanding of why it was
made?

As single track releases it may work, together on the one album it does not.

Unlike Sinclar’s previous offerings, Born in 69, is all over the place, cruising through the ages like a drunk driver.

While best known as the man who brought back the love for sweet, smooth electro styles thanks to his anthem ‘Love Generation’, his latest album left me bored.

There was no spark, not excitement and certainly not an album to listen to while sober – the extended intros, shout outs were wasted on a bus ride to work.

It seemed to me as though this album was trying too hard, with a reworking of Bob Dylan’s Mr Tambourine Man the final straw for me.

Sinclar’s latest album left me feeling as though I’d gone back in time to a place I instantly wanted escape.

Two stars
