The John Butler Trio has hinted they will head out on an Australian tour in the coming months.
The West Australian trio released a brief statement on their website stating a tour announcement would be released “very soon”.
The band, fronted by singer John Butler, has spent much of the second part of the year bunkered down working on a new studio album.
However, a gig listing on the band’s website suggests an Australian tour may be on the cards.
Butler will perform next month as part of a tribute concert to mark the 30th anniversary since Australian singer Paul Kelly became a solo artist.
The gig will also feature Missy Higgins, Paul Dempsey, Katy Steele, Bob Evans, Ozi Batla, Dan Kelly, Clare Bowditch, Jae Laffer, Adalita, Dan Sultan, and Megan Washington.
The show, Before Too Long – Paul Kelly Tribute will be held at Melbourne’s Forum Theatre on 13 November and 14 November.
It is expected that Butler will announce details of an Australian tour to coincide with these dates.
In June this year, Butler named Melbourne musician Nicky Bomba, and Sydney musician Byron Luiters as the new members of The John Butler Trio.
An Australian tour will offer Butler and his new trio the chance to road test their new work.
