Young And Restless are no more, after the band decided to call it a day.

The Melbourne band announced their decision to split in a post on their myspace page earlier this week.

“We never expected to make it as far as we have and we have been honoured and excited by all the interest and support from our friends, family, fans and fellow bands,” the band said.

“Through relocating interstate, line-up changes, touring and recording we have all had our share of amazing times, but in the last few weeks it has become clear that this is the end of the road for our band.”

Originally forming in Canberra in 2005, the band rocketed into the spotlight after winning Aussie radio station Triple J’s Unearthed competition in 2006.

In the same year the band played annual Aussie music festival, Homebake.

In 2007, Young And Restless released their debut self-titled record through Dot Dash.

Young And Restless will play a farewell show in Melbourne this Friday.
