Jane’s Addiction has been forced to cancel their Australian tour due to illness.
The band’s management confirmed yesterday that percussionist Stephen Perkins has been admitted to the infectious disease ward at Los Angeles Cedar- Sinai Hospital for treatment of an infection in his elbow.
Doctors expect to keep Perkins in hospital for a number of days for further observation.
Perkins is expected to make a full recovery, a statement from the band’s management.
The newly reformed US band was due to begin their Australian tour over the weekend, including a performance at Splendour In The Grass.
“I know how excited we were to come play in Australia, and how long the fans there have waited for this. I want everyone Down under to know that we will come back as soon as we can,” the band’s lead singer, Perry Farrell, said.
Melbourne outfit, The Living End, replaced Jane’s Addiction at Splendour In The Grass.
