Kisschasy has released the first taste of their new album as a free mobile phone ringtone.

The Melbourne band released the single Generation Why as a ringtone yesterday on their website, www.kisschasy.com.

Generation Why has been lifted off Kisschasy’s forthcoming album, Seizures.

Commenting on the decision to release a ringtone, Kisschasy front man Darren Cordeux said: “We just thought this would be a different way to let people know we had some new music they could check out.”

The single is about “armchair philosophers who love to complain”, Cordeux said.

“I’m sure I’m guilty of it sometimes myself” he said. “The title kind of came after the song was written so its not exactly specific to ‘my generation’ but I do spend the most time with people around my own age [Cordeux is 24] so I guess it could be taken that way.”.

Seizures was recorded in Los Angeles with producer Rob Schnapf (Beck, Elliott Smith, Powderfinger and The Vines).

Kisschasy’s Seizures is the follow up from the band’s 2007 release, Hymns for the Nonbeliever.
