Ben Lee’s first ever guitar has been immortalised on a limited edition sneaker.

The Lee inspired sneakers were created as a special series by shoemaker, 1827.

“I chose an image of my first acoustic guitar. It cost $20, and I wrote my first few albums on it as a teenager,” Lee said.

“It is covered in stickers of my favourite bands at the time and it was held in my arms through many hours of longing and unexpressed teenage sexual frustration. Looking at the finished shoe now, it feels like a tribute to the essence of my creativity.

“Recognising where I came from and taking inspired and sometimes foolish leaps into an unknown future. The journey does end. But it started somewhere.”

Ben Lee’s first guitar is currently housed and on exhibition at the national museum of Australia in Canberra.
