Sarah Blasko has scored her first theatre nomination for her work with the Bell Shakespeare Company’s production of Hamlet.
The Sydney singer has been nominated for a Green Room Award for the music she wrote for last year’s Hamlet.
“I’ve been nominated for a Green Room Award for the music I wrote last year for Bell Shakespeare’s Hamlet. The Green Room Awards are the Melbourne Theatre awards,” Blasko said.
“I’m pretty pleased because it was my first time writing for theatre. Fiona Crombie has also been nominated for her wonderful design for Hamlet.”
Blasko teamed with theatre director Marion Potts to work on the score.
Australian actor Brendan Cowell (Noise, Love My Way) starred as Hamlet.
Meanwhile, Blasko’s debut album ‘The Overture & The Underscore’ has just been released in Korea.
“I think it’s cool that they wanted to begin at the start. I’m hoping to get the chance to visit there sometime in the coming year,” she said.
Blasko is expected to release her new album in the coming year.
