Missy Higgins will release a new EP this week.
The Melbourne singer will release her ‘More Than This’ EP on March 31.
The EP is a release of four covers performed by Higgins as a postcard of tunes from her extensive North American tour over the past year.
The four tracks are: “More Than This” a reworking of the Roxy Music classic, the Cy Coleman ‘s ballad “I’m In Love Again”, a live duet of Tom Petty’s “Breakdown”, a cover of Patty Griffin’s “Moses”.
All royalties from the sale of the More Than This EP will go straight to Australia’s ‘Save The Kimberley’ group, Higgins has confirmed.
“When I found out that there were plans to build a gas hub along the Kimberly Coast, I just couldn’t believe it,” Higgins said.
“That part of the country is so stunning, has so much important cultural history and a wildlife population that thrives like nowhere else in the world … how can anyone think it’s okay to erect a gigantic dirty gas plant there? It will devastate the land and only open the door to more industrialization in the future. The chance for us to stop this is now, the sooner more Australians start talking about it, the better.”
Higgins has a long history with the region spending many months living in Broome and penning most of the songs on her album “On A Clear Night”.
She has also filmed a movie in the region late last year.
More Than This EP is released in Australia on March 31
