Ben Lee has caught the attention of Yoko Ono after the Aussie singer recorded a rendition of one of John Lennon’s singles.

Ono, the widow of Lennon, contacted the Aussie singer after hearing his cover of the single, Woman Is The Nigger Of The World.

In a personal note to Lee, Ono said:

“Dear Ben,

Right now I am in Tokyo feeling all nervous before my appearance in a very big John Lennon Tribute Concert this evening. But my PA just put your new video on her computer screen for me.

The way you did it made me choke up. You did it so well. Just right. Thank you. I expect it is still a rather daring thing to do for a musician of your stature.

Thanks again.

Lee recorded the track while working on his new album, The Rebirth of Venus.

The single is expected to be released as a b-side to one of the singles off the record.
