The Wombats will release a Christmas single later this year, their first new material in more than a year.

The UK outfit will release the one-off song, ‘Is This Christmas?’ on December 15 as a digital download.

All proceeds made from the sale of the single will be donated to UK charity MENCAP, to help those suffering from learning difficulties.

Is This Christmas? is the first new track for The Wombats since the 2007 release of their debut album ‘The Wombats Proudly Present…A Guide to Love, Loss and Desperation’.

The Wombats are touring the UK and Ireland this month.

The band will play a hometown gig on 22 November before taking a break from touring to work on their new album.
