Neil Young to headline BDO 2009

Neil Young has been named as the headlining act for next year’s Big Day Out festival.

The Canadian veteran is the first act to be officially named for the January 2009 music festival.

As well as performing at the festival, Young will play a number of solo shows.

He will play three shows in January, one in Brisbane, one in Sydney and one in Melbourne.

The godfather of grunge has experienced a music career spanning more than 40 years. In recent years he has released Greendale (2003), Prairie Wind (2005) and Living with War (2006).

Young’s touring band features pedal steel guitarist Ben Keith, bassist Rick Rosas, drummer Chad Cromwell, guitarist Anthony Crawford and singer/guitarist (and wife) Pegi Young.

    Didn’t I hear a rumour that there would be a concert in Auckland in 2009? Please tell me it’s true – I’ve just moved to NZ and would love to see Neil before I die!
